The Corbridge River Watch Group held a second
public meeting recently; a committee was elected and a programme of work agreed.
The CRWG will work in conjunction with Tyne Rivers Trust and will see the group
initally clear Himalayan Balsam from the north bank of the river in four stages.
The work gets under way on June 30 at 6pm. Other
dates agreed were July 15 at 6pm July 27 at 3pm. It is hoped that some of the
youth will get involved on this date and finally August 11th at 6pm. The meeting
place for all who wish to take part is at the Well Bank Green.
May 2009 - Morris dancing During late spring and summer Hexham Morris
Dancers, forfeiting their regular dance practice nights, can often been seen
dancing outside (and sometimes inside) local public houses, and on Monday 1st
June they will be dancing in Corbridge Market Place from 8pm. They will then
move on to dance at The Dyvels at about 9pm.
Corbridge is one
of the most charming and historic villages in the north east.
Perched above the River Tyne, in the rural beauty of Roman
Wall country, the village is both a lively, modern community
and a heritage treasure. It supports many businesses including
shops, restaraunts and hotels, and attracts visitors from
all over the world. At its heart are residents who care for
their village and its people. Its community is strengthened
by its excellent schools, the Parish Church of St Andrew,
two chapels and a Parish Hall that is the focus of many community
activities.
Our web site has been designed to provide a valuable source
of information not only to residents but also those who are
interested in the life of the village. Our pages are bursting
with interesting, live content. The
Corbridge Health Walks, Health
Centre, village history and
our useful links page are just some
of them. Have you looked at the Village
Diary? It's packed with information about a whole range
of activities taking place in the village.
And don't forget to keep an eye on the Village
Noticeboard at the foot of this page.

Subject: Village notes
Following the discussions
at Corbridge Parish Council last night I can comfirm
that the Courant remain very interested to hear from
anyone who would be willing to become the village
correspondent for Corbridge.
There are no restrictions on who can put themselves
forward, whether they are a parish councillor, village
trust member, or simply a Corbridge resident.
It would involve providing a weekly "column"
of news and events in the village in time for our
weekly deadline (which would be advised).
Anyone who would like more information is asked to
contact our editorial assistant, Jane Dodd, on 01434
602 351.
