Because a skate park base was constructed on the incorrect site, the provision of the much needed skate board park in the village has been delayed.

When the error was known earlier this year work on the site was stopped and the Council requested Tynedale Council to carry out an investigation into the reasons why the error occurred.

The enquiry has now been concluded by Tynedale Council and its report can be downloaded in PDF format from [this link].

The Council will formally receive this report at its next meeting on 25 June 2008. Meanwhile the following press release has been issued but until the Council has met it is not possible to make further comment.

‘Corbridge Parish Council has received the findings of Tynedale Council’s formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the construction of a skate park base on allotment land adjacent to Corbridge car park.

Tynedale Council Chief Executive Richard Robson and solicitor Peter Bracken attended a meeting in Corbridge on 16th June 2008 to present the report and answer questions from members of the Parish Council.

Following the meeting the Parish Council stated “We would like to thank Tynedale Council for undertaking such a thorough, detailed investigation and for presenting the report and its conclusions to the Council.

With the support of Tynedale Council we will now be looking at all the issues raised and the need to review procedures in order to ensure that this sort of thing does not happen again in the future.

The skate park is a very important and much needed facility for the young people of the Corbridge area and our overriding aim now is to ensure that we can deliver it to them.’
